Big Basin Tent Cabins

Big Basin Redwoods State Park
is California's oldest State Park, established in 1902. Home to the largest continuous stand of ancient coast redwoods south of San Francisco, the park consists of over 18,000 acres of old growth and recovering redwood forest, with mixed conifer, oaks, chaparral, and riparian habitats. Elevations in the park vary from sea level to over 2,000 feet. The climate ranges from foggy and damp near the ocean to sunny, warm ridge tops.

TENT CABINS
Each Tent Cabin is a raised wooden platform approximately 12' X 14' with wooden sides and mesh vent panels on two sides. The top is canvas secured over a wooden frame.  Entrance is through a wooden, screened door. The Tent Cabins are equipped with two double platform beds with mattress pads and a wood stove for heat. A bench and table are also located inside each cabin. Located just outside each cabin is a picnic table and fire ring with grill for cooking or evening gatherings.

There are two restrooms in the campgrounds. Coin-operated showers and laundry facilities are also available. Please bring quarters.

Check in time is 2:00 PM and check out is 12:00 Noon. There is a maximum of 2 vehicles per campsite.  The first vehicle is included in your reservation; each additional vehicle will be charged $6.00 per day payable upon check in.  There is overflow parking outside of the campground loop gate for additional cars at the $6.00 per day rate.  There is a maximum of eight persons per campsite. Each cabin will comfortably sleep four persons and you may pitch a tent of your own next to the Tent Cabin for an additional four persons.

Handicapped accessible restroom and three accessible tent cabins are also available.  Please make your reservations through the call center and let the reservationist know an accessible cabin is needed at the time of booking.

RATES:

Tent Cabins
- $50/night April 1 to November 14.

A 2 night minimum on weekends and 3 night minimum for holidays is required when booking for April 1 through November 14.
No minimum night restrictions from November 15 to March 31 with the exception of the Thanksgiving holiday break November 21 - 24, 2007.   (Please note: Rates for Big Basin Tent Cabins are subject to change.) 
    

OFF-SEASON RATES: 

Tent Cabins
- $37.50 per night Sunday through Friday, November 15, 2006 to March 31, 2007
$50.00 per Saturday night and during the Thanksgiving holiday period of November 21 - 24, 2007.

AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND:

Total Camping Package - $100 for up to 4 people. Camping package includes sleeping bags, Coleman cook stove, lantern, 60 quart cooler, pots & pans, cooking utensils, 2 bundles of wood and 2 bags of ice. Tent Cabin rental not included.

Firewood - $8.00/bundle (.9 cubic feet)         Lantern or cook stove - $6.00/night.

Linen Package
- $10.00 includes 2 blankets, 2 sheets, 2 pillows with pillowcases.

All items above can be reserved through the call center; tent cabins & lanterns can be reserved online or rented at the Big Basin Store. Quantities are limited on some items and reservations are recommended.

RESERVATIONS: 

Reservations can be made Monday - Friday 2:00pm-6:00pm through the call center at 1-800-874-TENT(8368).  Reservations are being taken online, 3 days to 7 months in advance; Reservations through the call center, can be made 1 day to 7 months in advance. All reservations must be paid in full at the time of booking with a credit card.  American Express, Discover, MasterCard & Visa are accepted. 

For peak season holiday weekends: Memorial Day, Independence Day & Labor Day a  three night minimum stay is required.

Any discount coupons must be booked through the call center.  Please mention the discount coupon before booking your reservation.  You need to bring the coupon with you when checking in at Big Basin.  If you do not, you will be charged the difference.
